Need staff in the Accountancy / Tax / Insolvency Sector.....

There is continously a huge shortage in financial-related sectors as less seem to be aligned in those areas. Earlier in the year, it's been stated that, at the least, there's a 22% shortage in accounting positions. Remember that is just the percentage of people needed to fulfil all the current accounting positions. This doesn't factor in companies looking to grow or expand their needs either, meaning it's quite a figure for a job that has usually been quite stable employment.

What are the key factors affecting this shortage?
The pandemic has led to a different approach to working and lifestyles, leaving many to look for remote-only positions that have taken candidates away from the various larger accounting institutions. Indirectly it may have to do with people switching out of their careers or graduating within more technologically related fields to obtain more lucrative positions.
However, regardless of whether there may be one core root cause or a number of factors, there's still a growing demand for accountants. In fact, that demand is set to be around 80,000 new positions!

What types of positions are available?

It’s not just senior positions that are having a difficult time being filled for accountant positions, but all levels. Whether a Trainee Accountant, a Practice Accountant, or even a Semi Senior Accountant, it's gotten to a point for many mid-sized to smaller firms needing to turn down work simply for not having enough accountants.  That means every position related to an accountant, such as a Qualified Accountant, will not only be in demand but also offer more competitive salaries and be a better option for job security. But, again, this is simply for the necessity of all businesses needing some type of accountant or similar financially focused position.

Candidates within the Accountancy / tax sector that also have a tech background are even in higher demand, as they have the necessary skills of an accountant and can take it to the next level with their tech-savvy minds. However, this leaves many accounting firms looking to fill in those spots or trying to expand a little in a difficult position.  On the one hand, they need to put the effort and resources into searching for new accountants to be able to fill in those open spots. While on the other hand, they may not be able to expand properly simply because of the work they've had to deny, leaving them without the resources to regrow their business. In fact, around 49%!
